I applied online. The process took 3 days. I interviewed at Loop (New York, NY) in Aug 2016
Interview
The first step was just to get an idea about this company and the industry. I waited for around half an hour later than scheduled time 3:30 p.m. and the CEO called me for a brief interview around 5-10 minutes. I am an international student so my first concern was whether they provide OPT and sponsorship opportunities. She told me that there were some employees also applying for OPT with the company and then the company will sponsor their visas based on their willingness and performance and so on. I was glad to know that there were two of their employees were from my country so I decided to accept the second round interview and see how it goes.
The sent me the email which asked me to spend a day with them to have an insight of their day-to-day activities and live campaigns for the second round. It specified the time at 10 a.m. but we waited in the lobby till they finished their "motivational stuff" at around 11:30 a.m. Then their staffs separated all candidates in different groups and led us to different places for their live campaign, which was asking you to promote their product on the street under the sun. Of course, the subway fee is on your own and you had no idea where they would lead you to. There was a girl leader who taught me about the marketing tips which required for the third round interview and the rest of the time she showed me how she promoted the products to the passersby. Although there were not many people responded to her questions or even rejected her, she still showed a positive attitude and greeted to all the people passed by.
After a quick to-go lunch at 1:30 p.m. ( still eating outside no matter how eager we were to find a cooler place to eat ), there was a guy leader explained to us that doing marketing on the street was just temporarily for about 4-6 weeks based on your criteria ( not sure what kind of criteria they want ), then you would be moved to the office and do some management position for their expansion purpose.
When coming back to the office by myself (employees working until 6 p.m.), I received the third interview which was to fill in the form of the questions which I learned today and what I felt about the position. After around 40 minutes, a manager talked to me about what I felt and if I like doing this kind of job. I said I was willing to try and I got the offer on the spot. I was leaving happily and the girl leader congratulated me and contacted me later to arrange a time to talk about my availability time and do some paperwork before I started.
Originally she arranged a time at 8 a.m. with me, when I reached there at around 7:35 a.m. their door were not even opened. At the time that girl sent me a message said we had to reschedule but I told her I was already at the office, then she said okay she would see me around 8:15 so I waited till 8:15, finally someone came but it was not her. So I waited and asked the counter staff for contacting for me, and the girl sent me a message again said that I would talk to the CEO. I remembered I only saw the CEO once on that day and she was super busy and she didn't even look at me. I waited till 10:30 a.m., there still no sign of the girl and all other candidates filled the lobby with no seats left. I was pissed and rescheduled with the counter staffs said I would do the paperwork next week which was right before my first day of work got started.
The day before my first day, I sent a message to confirm the time with the girl, and she asked me to come 15 minutes earlier which was at 8:30 a.m. When I reached the office, I still could not find her. The counter staff asked for me and said she would come out in few minutes but I ended up waited for an hour more! I ended up waiting for 2 hours on that day and realized that I was literally being fooled around and bear all their irresponsibility and irreverence all the time and wasted my hours for nothing. I left the office with anger and sadness at the same time since I already left my previous position for this opportunity.
I strongly not recommend you to apply for any position in this company especially if you are an international student like me. This is the worst interview process ever throughout my life and I am really disappointed at this small company and the people working here.
