I started with a 30 minute phone call with the Talent Acquisition Specialist. They said they will send me a design challenge that will take 2 hours to complete, which isn't true. When I received the challenge, the document indicated 6 hours max, and I was expected to show my thought process and design an MVP with very little context to work with. The requirements are vague. Once I passed the assignment, I was invited for a design review of the assignment with the hiring managers. A few days later, I received a a no-reply rejection email with feedback from the hiring managers. Feedback for Lightspeed: - Have the candidate meet the hiring managers before asking to invest 6 hours of their time to do the design challenge. It will allow the candidate to ask questions about the team, the role, etc and decide if they want to move forward with the assignment - Your design challenge was poorly designed. It's also unethical to ask for spec work. I was quite disappointed this part of the hiring process considering the design maturity in this organization.

The interview process was 4 stages, and took about 2–3 weeks total: 1. Screening interview with recruiter (took about 30 min). We discussed my interest in company and in the position. 2. Team Call with Design Manager and Design Head (took about 60 min) –discuss my experience, case study, research and problem solving approaches. 3. Design Exercise/Home Task 4. Home Task Call - Deep dive on design decisions, where I presented the designs for the home task.
