I applied in-person. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Levy in Jan 2015
Interview
I initially attended a job fair for Levy restaurants based on an advertisement I saw on Craigslist. I was applying for the position of Catering Supervisor which was posted as an opening. After filling out my application I was immediately taken into another room and was met by a woman who stated that Levy was not actually hiring for a catering supervisor as she was that person. (Uncomfortable!) However, she was nice enough to bring in a woman who was the current Non-Profit Coordinator as her position was opening up due to her promotion within the company.
The current non-profit coordinator gave me details on the position and a short interview stating she would be back in touch in a few days to set up a more formal interview with the department head. After 5 days I called and left her a voice mail reiterating my interest and availability for the position. No response.
2 weeks later an opening for the Non-Profit Coordinator position was posted and I applied through the website. I was called within a few days by the HR Director who performed a short, easy phone interview and said she would email me by the end of the day with an interview time to meet with her and the department head. No email. The next day I received a phone call from the current NPC with a scheduled time for the interview.
Upon showing up for the interview I was surprised because I had been put under the impression that it would be a formal interview with 3 people. I was again interviewed by the NPC while walking around the facility, was then taken downstairs to meet a few people and was then told I would be called back the following week by the NPC. I felt very confident that the interview had gone very well, I felt very comfortable with the staff. This was on a Friday.
The following Monday I received a call from a man who's name I immediately recognized as someone who would be a direct supervisor for the NPC position. He was calling to interview me for another position. I mentioned to him I was in process of interviewing for the NPC position and he told me he would check on the status of my candidacy with HR and would get back to me by the end of the day, which he did.
When he called me back he stated that HR had chosen to move forward with another candidate (ouch) and then offered to interview me for another position. I asked about the details of the position he was choosing to interview me for and he informed me that the pay was $10 an hour (after I had just been rejected for a $35-$40k a year position). I politely declined the interview. What a slap in the face. I know this could have been handled differently. I was very insulted.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
Nothing difficult or unexpected, very standard questions.
I applied through university. I interviewed at Levy (Detroit, MI)
Interview
I connected with an alumni on LinkedIn and we interviewed. They asked about my experience, we talked about it, very few questions since I communicated my skills and wants early on.
