The process started when HR reached out to me via Indeed and I ended up having a phone screen. It was an overall pleasant experience although it was made clear that consumer goods experience was something that was very important to the hiring manager and the company. While I didn't have that specific experience, I did have other relatable experience that would bring value to the company. I was then scheduled to meet with the hiring manager for the position and it was a 45 minute phone call with a lot of questions. Overall, it was a very pleasant experience and I was told the hiring manager that I would hear something "early next week". I also sent an email to HR to give them an update and to express my excitement regarding the opportunity, they responded positively and told me I "should hear something by Monday". The following week, I hear nothing. I ended up sending them an email on Wednesday to check in but no response until late that Friday to tell me that my experience was impressive but that they were going to pursue other candidates. While I know that nothing is guaranteed until an offer comes in, I was very surprised that it turned out this way. The signs were pointing positively and I was really hoping to be a part of the team...only to receive a generic rejection with no feedback or insight whatsoever. Overall, a very disappointing experience.
