I applied through university. The process took 5 days. I interviewed at Ledcor (Fort McMurray, AB) in Jan 2024
Interview
The interviewer was quick in responding to my job application, set up the interview within a few days after I had applied for the job and kept in touch during the days leading to the interview. The interview was via teams chat for about 40 minutes, it was very nice and conversational as the interviewer seemed interested in the interview. I was informed that this was one of three interviews that Ledcor would have with me. When it came time to hearing back from Ledcor though, it took them about 5 weeks (which the interviewer had warned me about) to get back to me that they had moved on with better applicants. The interview experience was very good and well handled. I however feel that someone who isnt working in the same region or sector as you shouldn't be interviewing you as my interviewer was in Ontario and I am in Calgary. Secondly, 3 sets of interviews seem an excessive waste of time and keep you in a state of limbo as I had personally wanted this job.
Interview questions [3]
Question 1
Tell me about yourself? Why are you the best candidate for this job? What is your greatest weakness?
After the initial HR screening, the process typically progresses through a few more structured stages. You've likely already completed the first one.
Stage 1: Initial Phone Screening (You are here) : A relatively short call (around 20 minutes) with an HR representative. The main goal is to verify your basic qualifications, interest in the role, and cultural fit, which is why the questions felt more behavioral.
Stage 2: Manager/Supervisor Interview: This is often a more in-depth conversation, either by video call or in person, with the hiring manager or a project lead. This is where you'll face a mix of more detailed behavioral and situational questions.
Stage 3: Potential Skills Assessment or Final Interview: Depending on the specific team and role requirements, you might be asked to complete a brief skills test or have a final interview with senior management.
Stellar process, very engaged and got to meet the whole team. Interview lasted 3 sessions, each better than the previous. Overall one of the better interactive interviews I have had.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
How do you interactions across previous jobs benefit your views on safety culture.
Presented at my school, asked to submit resumes for project coordinator position. Contacted potential candidates for interview within 2 days. The interview was 15min long and was primarily personality match based. Little technical questions asked, mostly why you are interested in pursuing this type of career and questions to see what you are like and if you would fit with company culture.
