Interview
Apply through the website at www.llnl.gov. Be patient the process is slow. Be prepared to discuss what is on the job posting, but bring any project or work experience you have. If you applied in the past and did not get an interview right out of school keep trying, after getting some work experience. Think of how you documented projects in the past and what sort of safety concerns you had to overcome if any.

Interview
Didn't make it to all steps. I just went through the first step which was a phone call with a recruiter. It was a good interview, I just wasn't prepared at the time.
I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory in Mar 2023
Interview
First round was an hour-long phone call with an engineer, telling me about various roles they had open and asking me some basic questions about my resume and experience. Very low-key and friendly. Second round was much more rigorous and rigid. 4-hour session in total. It started with an initial presentation from an engineer talking about their projects, LLNL work, etc. Moved on to a technical presentation for 30 minutes where I presented a project I helped lead to a group of a dozen engineers or so, with Q&A after. Got a quick break, then jumped into two back-to-back panel interviews where they had in-depth questions about my past experience, mostly technical. Finished with a short session where I got the chance to ask my questions, along with a benefits summary presentation. Word of warning - be as prepared as possible for the technical presentation. They will grill you on the fundamentals and details of whatever project you're sharing. This seemed like the most important part of the interview.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
Present a project you were involved in. The presentation must be technical in nature and 30 minutes in length.

Interview
Phone screen, followed by a 45 min presentation interview and Q and A with several engineers and managers from different teams. From the interview date to now, several months have passed with no follow up from the team or recruiter. This is disrespectful to the candidate, and dissuades me from applying to other positions in the future. Avoid asking for long presentation interviews if you’re not willing to provide feedback. Preparing slides takes a long time.
