The discussion started by the individual finding me on LinkedIn and then we set up time to speak. He started the call by saying “oh your LinkedIn says softball a lot” which it does in the extra curricular section. He then went on to say he doesn’t think I’m qualified for the position but he’d love to “send an email because it’s good to reach “. He seemed very disingenuous and kept speaking about the VC backing every other sentence. He asked if I had questions, which I asked business strategy question based off values and ethics. And he replied saying “well if you want to work here you’d have to change that mentality and get on board”.
It was very uncomfortable. In my 10+ years of professional experience, I’ve never been told that I’m “under qualified” by a man in an interview. Especially one that singled me out to speak.
