Clifton Park, Crossing Boulevard Kohls.
(I need to say I truly understand, every time you get an interview it does not mean you get the job. But I do have this complain)
I went to Kohl's for an interview a few weeks ago. It was a group interview, 4 people total including me. The interview was very simple and quick. They said we had to wait a week or so in order to get our backgrounds and references checked. One week later, they called and said the phone numbers i gave them didn't work. I told the manager I had the phone numbers for I long time (one over a year and the other over 4 years) and that I didn't know my references changed their phone numbers. So then, I called her back with different phone numbers THAT WORKED( I checked and called my references first). She said she was going to call my references and let me know.
First of all, SHE DID NOT CALL AT ALL. I called both of my references and they never try to get a hold of them or leave any voicemail's. Yesterday, I got a letter that said I demonstrated fine qualities but they didn't have a position for me at the time. So why did they give me an interview in the first place? They said they had openings! I applied in Indeed.com so is not that I went to the store, they called me to schedule and interview. I have retail job experience and because of a dumb phone number I didn't get the job?. Is this a PROFESSIONAL JOB? I applied to work in the fitting rooms, give me a break! So I guess it was fair to give the chance to the college students interviewed the same day they know are not going to last long because of their school schedules? They also lived 30hr to 40 minutes away from the store and I live across the street. I am not against students at all, but in my opinion, is better to hire a people with open schedules you can call anytime. What about people with no experience? You guys will take the word of any of their family members as a reference? If that's the case, next time i try to apply with kohl's again (which is not going to happen) I will give my mom's phone number as a reference. Im sure she will give a great reference!
I advise this company to go a little bit easy on the reference part, working in a fitting room is not a big deal, you don't need any skills, you just need to be good at customer service and organized. Also, if you take the time to call to ask for different reference phone numbers, please call. I had to call my last supervisor and he gave me his personal phone number! He actually waited for the call! How do you think I look now? If this is such a professional place to work, don't do those kind of things. IS NOT PROFESSIONAL AT ALL in my opinion.
