I applied online. I interviewed at Kirksey (Houston, TX) in Mar 2026
Interview
My interview experience with Kirksey Architecture was refreshing. The interviewers opened by sharing their own journeys, which immediately set a welcoming tone before the conversation turned to me.
They asked thoughtful questions — what drew me to architecture, what inspires me as a student, my 1, 5, and 10 year goals, and how my previous internship has shaped my growth as a designer. A standout moment was the discussion around studio culture and how individual versus group work is valued, which showed a real interest in understanding how I think and collaborate.
Walking them through my portfolio felt meaningful rather than rushed, and the interview closed with a clear overview of the summer internship schedule — a reflection of Kirksey’s intentionality and transparency.
I left feeling motivated and optimistic, and I look forward to the possibility of contributing to their team this summer.
