      Conflicts Attorney Interview

      3 Jun 2026
      Anonymous interview candidate
      Washington, DC
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Easy interview

      Application

I interviewed at King & Spalding (Washington, DC)

      Interview

There was one interview for which everyone seemed so uninterested in what I was saying, I already knew I didn't have the job. I was likely too senior for the role or not who they wanted, but it was not a friendly process at all.

      Conflicts Attorney Interview

      30 Aug 2022
      Anonymous interview candidate
      Washington, DC
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Easy interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 2 days. I interviewed at King & Spalding (Washington, DC) in Aug 2022

      Interview

I had a brief 30 minute interview over the phone with the recruiting coordinator. She was very professional and knowledgable and assisted with scheduling the next interview with three interviewers: the director, coordinator, and senior conflicts attorneys the following day (Friday). By Monday I received an email declining to extend an offer, I actually appreciated the quick response, even though it was not favorable, it was about the only thing I could appreciate about the interview process with this firm. The three interviewers could not have made someone feel more uncomfortable. I think they may have forgotten that they once sat in my seat and would have appreciated, especially as a panel of 3 women, showing a little grace. While appearance has nothing to do with one's ability to perform, I think wearing a tank top to an interview regardless if it's remote, is not professional. You wouldn't show up to the office with a dingy tank top, I wouldn't expect to see it in a remote interview either.. Second, it was distracting when one of the three interviewers thought she turned her camera off and was walking around her house eating a sandwich, paying absolutely no attention to what I was saying. Third, if these three women were a representation of the atmosphere at King & Spalding, I owe them a thank you for not extending an offer. I took a break from working in an AmLaw firm because of women like the ones I interviewed with, and it was sad to know that after everything the world has gone through over the past two years, there is still such a lack of grace and self awareness when it comes to women in law. It is not surprise that the boilerplate language in the email saying the firm was not moving forward made little to no sense, they weren't even listening to what I said, the one too busy eating a sandwich, the second disappeared halfway through the interview, and the third was the epitome of the woman you wouldn't want to work for.
