I applied online. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Kinestral Technologies
Interview
The position was posted to craigslist, and I sent a resume and cover letter along to them. I was contacted about 1 week later to schedule a short phone interview. This consisted mainly of a description of the technology they are developing and the role for which they were hiring, as well as some basic questions about my background. Someone from HR then scheduled me to come in for an in-person interview approximately 1 week after that.
The in-person interview consisted of several 1-on-1 or 2-on-1 interviews, each lasting about 30 minutes. This included individuals from upper management, engineering project leaders, and technical staff. I was kept to a conference room the entire time (no chance to look at any of the engineering facilities).
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
The most difficult question dealt with rather specific technical aspects of my past experiences, some of which were 6+ years in the past. For example, one asked what particular compound we used to fullfil a particular function in a chemical device. These individuals are highly technical and chemistry-savvy and aren't afraid to show it in the interview.
