It started out with an email on why I was suited for the position (which is fair) My recruiter FAILED to notify me the second part was for a video interview rather than a phone interview. I’m ok with video interview however this was never mentioned and I had to follow up with the recruiter several times. I finally got to the round to talk to the VP of the company who was very pleasant and I had more of a better engagement of what the company was all about. My advise to this companies HR is that to be understanding to the people applying. No one is 100% perfect and if someone has the passion for the role and has more experience vs obtaining a masters degree you shouldn’t dismiss them away especially if they have more passion for the role and helping others. Very disappointed in the recruiter for not even offering why I was not eligible after making it so far in the interview process.

I knew two of the women interviewing me as well as several people who currently work there from my previous job. I was relieved after receiving positive feedback and having an engaging conversation. I have been relentlessly seeking a career in higher ed for over a year and I was certain I was going to get to make a difference in the higher ed community again. I was crushed when one of the women, a former co-worker with whom I thought I had a decent relationship with (we worked together often, we’re friends on Facebook and LinkedIn.) she asked if I remembered her…how could I not? I was a bit taken aback at that point. The conversation felt cold and she seemed uninterested, I tried my best to remain positive and confident but I guess it wasn’t enough.
