      Network Engineer Interview

      25 Jul 2024
      Anonymous interview candidate
      Singapore
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Difficult interview

      Application

The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at Kacific (Singapore) in Jul 2024

      Interview

I should start off by mentioning that the culture appears positive. The direct manager of this position as well as the HR were extremely helpful and informative in the process. However, there are 4 stages to the interview process and a moderately long assessment which involves coding in Python. This was perfectly acceptable, as I was clearly informed prior to taking it up. The problems began at the point where I turned up for my physical interview, in which I was expected to give a presentation for the assignment when it was not stated in communication. Fortunately, I had brought my laptop along so it was not a very big issue. Thereafter, I was raised with numerous questions from one of the interviewers, a senior manager, which would be naturally appreciated. Unfortunately, these questions were largely a repeat of what was to be explained/answered in the assignment which led me to conclude that the senior manager did not actually go through the submission prior to the session. In fact, he had explicitly stated he "did not want to look at the script", which was a core component of the assignment. Questions can be constructive, but the interviewer asked them largely in a condescending manner, topped off with the fact that he had mixed up his units (using bits and Hertz interchangeably) in his questions/statements, which came off as slightly embarrassing, as it very well informs one of how much the supervisor understood practical work/fundamental science. Nonetheless, it does seem like an interesting opportunity and it could work out for you, but it would help to take note of the hurdles and lead time that you might have to go through.
