      Engineering Interview

      23 Nov 2015
      Anonymous employee
      Baltimore, MD
      Accepted offer
      Positive experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied through university. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at Johnson Controls (Baltimore, MD) in Nov 2015

      Interview

I had two people interview me for this position. They both made me feel welcomed and allowed me some time to settle down for the interview. The interview itself was not that difficult, I'd say it was average. One of the interviewers opened it up with the grand question, "Why Johnson Controls?" Of course, I had done my research on the company, and my answer involved mentioning their top values as a company and how they correlated with me. The rest of the questions were some behavioral type and some about my resume in order to get to know more about me. This, I appreciated because they took the time to ask me about myself, as opposed to having pure behavioral questions. Anyway, I really wanted this internship, so I answered each and every question to the best of my ability. Towards the end of the interview, they allowed me to add one more thing I had forgotten to mention. Overall, the interview was smooth and I received an extended offer later that day, which I accepted.

      Interview

First Interview – Phone Call Screening: The initial step in the hiring process is a phone call interview, which typically serves as a preliminary screening. During this stage, the recruiter or hiring manager will likely ask general questions about your background, experience, and interest in the company. The purpose of this call is to assess whether you align with the company's needs and to provide insight into the role you are applying for. Second Interview – One-on-One Zoom Call: If you pass the initial screening, you will move on to a more in-depth one-on-one video interview via Zoom. This interview includes a mix of background-related questions and technical questions specific to the role. The interviewer will likely ask about your past experiences, problem-solving skills, and knowledge in areas related to telecommunications, civil engineering, or project coordination, depending on the position you are applying for. This stage is designed to evaluate your qualifications and how well you fit into the company's workflow and culture.

      Interview

Phone interview went smoothly. You have to call them and enter a secondary number to enter the conference room. The position was not something that was ideal for me, and I think that the interviewer kind of realized that.
