The first step was a phone screen with recruiter, then interview with 2 managers, a series of five 45-minute 1:1 interviews scheduled separately, and finally a presentation. I provided several dates of availability and let the recruiter know I was going to be out of the country after a certain date but I was still scheduled for sessions outside my availability without any acknowledgement of this or asking if I had alternative availability. I spent a few weeks going back and forth with the recruiter and HR trying to remedy this before going out of the country, but would not receive any updates unless I prompted them and responses I did receive were vague. When I left for my trip I was still scheduled for the presentation without follow-up from recruiter/HR and had to email the hiring mangers directly. It ended up not being able to be rescheduled and I was removed from the interview process, despite me sharing this availability from the start. While this experience did not line up with how the team members talked about culture and work/life balance, I think it may have brought to light some things that I would not have known otherwise. It was overall a very stressful situation as the interviewee and I did not feel as though the recruiter had any respect for me or my time.
