I applied through university. The process took 1 week. I interviewed at Jane Street in Mar 2014
Interview
Sent my resume through my college's recruiting website. Few days later we scheduled a phone interview. Phone interview takes place. We jump straight into the technical questions. They first asked me to not use pen and paper and to let them know if I had already heard a question. It was honestly pretty hard to do anything without the pen and paper so I asked them to let me write my thoughts down and they allowed me to. Couldn't fully solve their last question so they said I should work it through and email them my solution. They never got back to me, understandably. It was my first time interviewing and I sucked at it.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
They were all math puzzles. All the questions were probability problems except for the last one which was a general math puzzle.
Several phone calls to go to the final round. The phone calls consists of mathematical, probabilistic brain teasers which was not that hard for a mathematics major. Final round was to harsh for me, strong mentality is required
I applied online. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Jane Street (New York, NY) in Apr 2026
Interview
Lots of expectation/probability questions. Make sure to study game-theory type question that involves expectations. Specific concepts in stochastic processes don't seem that important. The first two were relatively easy. Just make sure to ask a question if there is any uncertainty
very fun a lot of interesting problems. The person which was managing the interview process was easily aproachable and really nice to talk to. Also interviewers seemed really interested in the problems given and gave me a lot of chances to talk about them
