I applied through an employee referral. The process took 1 day. I interviewed at JPMorganChase (Mumbai) in Aug 2025
Interview
I appeared for interview for lead C++ developer position for electronic trading. Both 1st and 2nd round happened face to face on the same day. I was referred by a friend.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
1st round lasted an hour wherein I was asked several questions on C++ basics, ACE/boost library and few questions were about C++11 & C++14 features. Within a short time, I was informed that 1st round is cleared.
In the 2nd round, I was given 2 scenario based questions to solve.
1) Design Valgrind like leak detector tool who can identify memory leaks of an application from outside. A follow-up question on this was - design a tool like Address Sanitizer to detect memory leak from an application from inside. I could partially answer this.
2) Consider an employee record of id, department, salary, manager id etc.
Write a C++ application such that employee record is printed if employee id is given. If it is a manager id, then entire hierarchy of employees directly/indirectly under him is printed. For this, I'd used 2 unordered_map. First map for employee id to its records pair and 2nd for manager id to vector of its reportees pair.
2nd round lasted an hour and post to which I was told I need to brush up my skills more. Later, I was informed that they're looking for stronger candidate with advanced C++ versions knowledge.
Four rounds, largely behavioral with a few situational / case-like questions as well. Took a long time to receive offer, but they wanted an answer very quickly upon providing it and also wanted me to start very quickly
