      Commercial Sales Representative Interview

      30 Dec 2017
      Anonymous interview candidate
      Gainesville, FL
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Infinite Energy (Gainesville, FL)

      Interview

I applied and interviewed for the position of a Commerical Sales Representative for the company Infinite Energy. I was initially called to do a brief phone interview after applying through Indeed, which was handled in a typical fashion with standard questions. All went well and I was sent an email two weeks later stating they wanted to bring me in for an in-person interview. I came in on the scheduled interview date and thus began the most unprofessional interview experience throughout my then lengthy job search. After beginning the interview and answering typical questions such as: "Why do you want to work for us?" "What do you know about the company?" etc. the questions changed and a couple of my answers received audible laughs from two of the three people in the room. I understand the company culture wants to promote a "relaxed" environment (as they told me during the interview), but laughing at a potential candidate was incredibly unprofessional and showed a potential nasty side of the company. After this baffling experience I was taken into the testing room, where I was given vague instructions about the task I was to complete, which was a sales related email write up. When I discovered there simply was not enough information provided to craft the email requested of me I pushed through and did what I assumed they had in mind. After this, I received an email two weeks later stating they had chosen a different candidate. I was not upset about this due to the largely unprofessional experience the entire process turned out to be. I had no intention of an accepting an offer if there was going to be one in the first place. The culture and general attitude of those during the interview process was enough of a clue to avoid this company for the future.
