The initial interview with the recruiter went very well. He said that he felt I would be a great candidate for the position given my years of experience practicing addiction medicine. The next step was to interview with the supervising provider. I was awaiting an email with interview times when I was shocked to receive a notification stating that since I had prior management experience, they didn't think I would be a good fit. Initially, I didn't know what to say. Regardless of how much experience I had in addiction medicine, all they chose to focus on was my management experience? I have always provided patient care, even during the times that I was managing a clinic. This is just my opinion, but it made me think that they don't want to hire someone who would potentially question them if they were doing something unethical or they don't want to hire strong women. I really think I dodged a bullet here.
