      Legal Assistant Interview

      2 Jan 2024
      Anonymous employee
      Los Angeles, CA
      Accepted offer
      Positive experience
      Easy interview

      Application

I applied online. I interviewed at IRS (Los Angeles, CA) in Oct 2021

      Interview

Panel interview over the phone with the manager, LSC, and management from another state. After the interview, it took about 3 weeks to hear back from HR and they offered me the job. They contacted references. Everything was over the phone and done online. This was also during COVID, so I don’t know if things have changed, but HR was in a different state, so it should still be virtual. Entire process took about 2 months. Average time for a government job.

      Interview questions [1]

      Question 1

They asked me why I wanted to work there. Also, asked about experience in customer service as well as the legal field. They also described the work that was to be performed, including the job description. They also asked me questions like “tell me about a time when…..” the questions were very easy and pertained to the job. If you worked in this industry before, then you won't have any trouble answering the questions because they are all related to the job that you’ll be performing. One manager was very soft spoken and I kept asking her to repeat herself, she was very kind and polite. Lots of laughing and opportunity to speak freely, no pressure, wonderful process. Just read the job description and be prepared to answer any questions pertaining to it. Also, why did you choose to apply for this agency? Straightforward and not requiring much thought.
