I am located on the West Coast and the Recruiter scheduled a phone screen with me. During our call, I inquired about the work schedule and communicated that I would be willing to work EST hours if needed. I knew this position supported Europe operations so I also communicated that I could not accommodate anything earlier than EST and to find out from the Hiring Manager if that would be an issue. The Recruiter scheduled me for an interview with the Hiring Manager so I figured working from the West Coast would be fine.
At the end of the interview, I asked the Hiring Manager directly about the time zone and she communicated that even though I would be working EST hours, she didn't think it would work because I would not be able to attend early morning meetings with Europe.
Talk about a complete waste of my time. Interview prep takes time and energy and I could have spent my effort on other opportunities I was interviewing for. I was taken aback by this realization and didn't understand why this interview was scheduled in the first place. Do better!
