My experience with IKO Industries Ltd. in Brampton was extremely disappointing and unprofessional.
The interview process lacked structure, transparency and timely communication. For a Plant Manager role, a company should be able to run a clear hiring process, make decisions efficiently and communicate respectfully with candidates. In my opinion, a process like this should not drag on unnecessarily, a well run organization should be able to interview, assess and make a hiring decision within a reasonable timeframe, often within a few weeks.
What concerns me most is that this Plant Manager position appears to have been difficult for them to fill for an extended period of time. At some point, the issue is not just the candidate pool, it may be the hiring process, the people conducting the interviews or the internal alignment around what they are actually looking for.
Based on my experience, IKO Brampton should seriously review who is involved in interviewing and decision-making for this role. The process left me with the impression that both HR and management were not aligned, not prepared, and not respectful of candidates’ time.
For a company hiring senior operational leadership, the process should reflect professionalism, urgency, and competence. Unfortunately, that was not my experience.

A few behavioural questions were asked, such as my strengths and weaknesses, how I lead without formal authority, and how I handle difficult conversations.

Very easy, felt like a conversation with the hiring manager rather than an interview. Had the opportunity to tour the plant as well. HR was very responsive and helpful throughout the process as well.
