      Technical Editor Interview

      10 Jan 2022
      Anonymous interview candidate
      Declined offer
      Positive experience
      Easy interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 2+ months. I interviewed at ICF in Dec 2021

      Accepted offer
      Positive experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied through an employee referral. The process took 1 week. I interviewed at ICF (Washington, DC) in Dec 2022

      Interview

The interview process was very quick. Once an assessment was done demonstrating you could copy edit a previous years report, you are almost immediately on-boarded. There was no formal interview over the phone, in person, or by videochat. Given the work is entirely remote they seemed to just expect adequate demonstration that you could follow through with your assignment.

      Question 1

There was no formal interview, only a prior assessment where you were asked to provide a technical edit, and copt edit of a previous years report.

      Interview

Got contacted about 3 weeks after I submitted my application. Did an initial phone screen with a recruiter that lasted about four minutes to see if I was interested still and what my salary expectations are. Then about four days later I had a short 30-minute virtual call with the Director who was very pleasant and asked me why I wanted the job, about my background, pretty simple questions. The next week, I was invited to do 4 back-to-back 30-minute virtual interviews with various members of the team. The questions were not structured - they were all very conversational and everyone I spoke to was very kind. Finally, directly after my four interviews were over, I was asked to complete a short editing assignment. The recruiter who I first spoke to reached out a little over two weeks later (there was a holiday week in between) to offer me the job at a salary higher than what I asked for. I ended up accepting another job offer, but the recruiter was very communicative and the whole process was set up well.
