I applied online. The process took 1 day. I interviewed at Hometown Oneonta (New York, NY) in Dec 2020
Interview
The interview itself was very positive; I left feeling excited for what the future held at this publication . I was hopeful that I would grow and be welcomed into the small family atmosphere that was portrayed. It truthfully wasn't much of an interview and received an offer the same day. I found out after the fact that I had more journalism experience than the rest of the people that were previously hired in that role or any similar role which might give some idea as to the esteem or lack thereof of this publication.

Question 1
The questions are not at all what you would expect. It is not to say preparing for the interview is useless, however, with reasonable qualifications, the interview is a walk in the park. If anything, the questions were more personal than anything else, more questions to see if you'll fit into the "family" atmosphere. ie "when's the last time you blew up," because they are apparently more concerned with the office dynamic than a successful and reputable publication, but I digress.
I applied in-person. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Hometown Oneonta (Oneonta, NY)
Interview
I was told that I got the job because I could bring my many years of experience to the position. In retrospect, they could care less about anyone's experience. They just dial for dollars with no regard to clients needs

Question 1
I was told that I was being considered because most people who applied were toothless.
