Most unnecessarily lengthy interview process ever. Applied in the middle of December, completed the panel interview at the end of January, and that wouldn't have even been the final round. Each step took a week or more for the recruiter to get back to me, and they never responded to questions in the interim. One step involved a presentation that took 10-12 hours of work to prepare for. None of the 6 panelists introduced themselves at the beginning of the presentation, and none of them gave any visual or auditory feedback during the presentation. They just sat looking at their other screens and either taking notes or engaging in Slack conversations. The whole thing felt like a waste of my time. They made a point in the presentation prompt to say this wasn't a real product of theirs, but as the "fake" product was essentially theirs with the acknowledgement it qualifies as a mortgage, coupled with the fact they're currently being sued by the state of Massachusetts for illegally offering mortgages without adhering to consumer protection mortgage laws, it's clear the whole presentation was an attempt to extract free labor. The Glassdoor reviewer before me noted they went through the same stage of the interview process more than a month before I did. I also noticed Hometap reposted the role two times to LinkedIn during my interview process. So, they're constantly reposting the role and somehow taking months to complete the interview stage where they get lawyers to give them free work.
