I applied in-person. The process took 1 day. I interviewed at Hollister Co. in Dec 2011
Interview
You submit applications through in-store kiosks, and at the end of the application you are prompted to select a interview date/time. When you show up for the interview, you wait in the lounge area in the store and when the manager(s) are ready they will take the whole group of interviewees out somewhere in the mall to sit down and have the interview. The interview is held in a kind of round-table type deal where the manager asks selected questions to every individual depending on the position they are applying for. For example, they'll ask every person applying for Impact the same question, each person applying for Model the same question, etc. During this interview, they can judge based on any number of things. Depending on the manager that is interviewing, they will probably look at how well you answer the questions, how well you fit the look of the company, as well as whether or not the manager just plain likes you or not.
It was very easy. they asked you about your retail experience and asked behavior questions that were very easy to answer. So I thought it was straight forward in my humble opinion
Apply online and invited to group interview with approx. 5 other people. The interview is in a casual environment e.g. in the shopfloor, interviewer was welcoming and easy to get along with
