I interviewed at Hillstone Restaurant Group (Corona del Mar, CA)
Interview
Applied, received an email back to book a 5 minute interview.
Think about it - you have 5 minutes to make a great first impression.
Dress well, be hygienic. Guys - be clean shaven and use hair gel. Ladies - a red lip goes a long way here. Smile, be warm, and professional. Sound intelligent, energetic, and conversational - you’ll be serving to upmarket clientele, so don’t say some slang, or be too casual. Build rapport with your interviewer so you can stand out.

Question 1
What is hospitality? What is the difference between service and hospitality?
Straightforward, like every other typical restaurant job. I spoke to the host and waited a few minutes to talk to a lead/manager/head chef. Overall very nice people and standard interview questions that lasted 10 minutes. Three rounds total. Second was with the general manager and third was online with the corporation. Things were well until the third round. All managers seemed to like me, and I truly thought I was going to get the job. But when met with the blonde lady through Zoom, things immediately fell apart. She was late, cold, rude, and didn't even allow me to form basic sentences because she kept interrupting. The entire interview was max 60 seconds. I got a rejection call immediately after.
