      Operations Data Specialist Interview

      Difficult interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 2+ months. I interviewed at Hill's Pet Nutrition (Overland Park, KS) in Aug 2024

      Interview

I thought I was a very good match and submitted my resume on a Wednesday. Within 3 hours HR contacted to set up an initial interview for the next day. It went really well so and the HR rep asked my availability for the next Monday or Tuesday to interview for the position. After I gave my availability, she called back and asked if I could interview the next day, Friday. That interview also went really well. From submitting my resume I had 2 interviews within 48 hours. I have not heard of it any position moving that fast and was hopeful. A third interview with the hiring managers was set for the next Thursday. It also went really well (in my opinion). At the end of the third interview, they said I should hear in a week or two. I sent Thank you emails to everyone I interviewed with the next day. After not hearing back, on 13 business days since my last interview, I sent a follow up email to the HR hiring manager. I wanted to keep the momentum going and offered any other information or follow up interviews. I asked if there was a timeline for a decision. There was no response. After 26 days, I sent a follow up email to the hiring manager also offering to provide other information or another interview. This was after I was told 1-2 weeks. I asked if there was a timeline for a decision. There was no response. After 6 weeks I emailed again stating I was still interested in the position and offered to provide any information to help make a decision. I again asked if there was a timeline for a decision. There was no response. At exactly 9 weeks since my last interview I received an automated rejection email. I understand rejections are part of the interview process but 9 weeks seems excessive after 3 good interviews. My guess is they liked me enough to consider me, perhaps as a backup but wanted to keep looking, which is acceptable. My issue is with the lack of communication. I would have appreciated a response saying the decision is delayed, or no decision has been made yet, or the timeline has been extended. Just as a courtesy, let me know when I might expect a reply after telling me 1-2 weeks. While the initial 3 interviews were positive and easy, my rating is negative due to the wait without response.
