      Backend Developer Interview

      27 Dec 2018
      Anonymous employee
      Accepted offer
      Positive experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at HelloFresh in Nov 2018

      Interview

It was a pretty straightforward process. It took roughly 4 weeks. 1) I did an interview with tech HR, we chatted for roughly 30~35 minutes, asking questions regarding my experience and knowledge of some topics. No technical questions, just "Have you worked with/have knowledge of SOLID principles?" type questions. It was pretty chill and I felt somewhat relaxed. I felt that for a HR spokeperson, he knew the answers to the questions he was talking about. 2) I did a coding test. It was rather complicated because there are some aspects of it that I had never done before (TDD specifically). It's very comprehensive but really isn't complex at all. The coding test is about doing a REST API without using a framework. I felt it was a pretty good way to do it because it was realistic and an actual test of your skills, instead of a random Leetcode/HackerRank question. Then it was reviewed was someone else. They decided to continue the process. 3) An interview with the head of a department. We chatted for roughly an hour and talked about my experience and the test itself. How difficult it was, problems I encoutered, feedback he had, what he liked. It was a pretty nice talk because the interviewer and I had similar backgrounds, so he had a good understanding of what I was taught at my college and how much I needed to learn to get to where I am now. I think this was my favorite part about the process, I was set up with an interviewer that would understand it the better. 4) There was a final interview with the Director of Engineering, it was pretty straightforward. He asked several hypothetical questions and gauged how I'd ask. He gave me his feedback regarding my answers, and was overall someone swell to talk to. This interview had technical questions and cultural questions.

      Interview

I received an email from the recruiter to schedule a meeting. I chose a time, and after more than 1 week, I received another email to reschedule the meeting. Also, I have chosen a new time. Finally, the recruiter didn't join the meeting, I emailed him but he didn't answer.

      Backend Software Engineer Interview

      13 May 2021
      Anonymous interview candidate
      Berlin
      No offer
      Positive experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied through an employee referral. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at HelloFresh (Berlin) in Mar 2021

      Interview

It happened exactly as they explain in their tech blog. Although some initial interviewers were defined, at the moment of the talk, I was surprised by someone else. The process happens with 5 steps, initial talk with a recruiter, technical challenge (live or offline), technical interview and behavioural interview. After the result, I got feedback regarding the result and decision.

      Interview questions [1]

      Question 1

The technical challenge was offline asking to create a web server from scratch followed by questions and answers through GitHub. The technical interview was conducted by questions related to the experience and how do I solve problems examples. The final interview was made by a Senior Manager. Still questions about the technical experience.
