I applied through a recruiter. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at Harvey | Harvey-Cleary Builders (Houston, TX)
Interview
I was contacted by 3rd party recruiter for an hour long video call/screening and then the recruiter set up a panel interview in the office. The video call was more traditional interview questions and the panel interview was more conversational.

Question 1
What led you to seek new employment opportunities?
I applied through other source. The process took 1+ week. I interviewed at Harvey | Harvey-Cleary Builders (Houston, TX) in Apr 2013
Interview
The first step was to fly me down for an onsite interview. This consisted of flying in, having diner with several Harvey employees, then the next day having an interview with upper management and touring job sites. Then I received an offer a few days later. I counter offered, based on salary information from salary.com and cost of living differences from my home town, and they came back and took the offer off the table. They indicated I had asked too many compensation questions, and would not be a good fit. During the interview process, I did not ask a single compensation question, and did not mention my salary level when asked. Once they extended an offer, I assumed we were in the negotiation phase, so I proceeded to ask compensation questions that would help me put together a reasonable counter offer. Apparently I misunderstood the situation. The experience leads me to believe, we should never ask about compensation at any point.

The questions were pretty straight forward, about background and experience. What you can bring to the table.
