      Research Analyst Interview

      Application

I interviewed at Hanover Research (Ballston, VA)

      Interview

Had recently submitted an interview review but mistakenly selected the "Accepted Offer" option. I was, in fact, given an offer, and declined it. Below is the original review: My interview process was pretty similar to those already described in other reviews. About a week after sending in my resume and cover letter, I was asked to complete an aptitude test online. Following the aptitude test, an HR rep contacted me for a call. After our call, I was asked to complete a research assignment. Following the assignment, I was asked to come into the Ballston office for in-person interviews. The interview questions were all pretty standard, I can't recall anything out of the ordinary. I was eventually given an offer, and that was when I felt duped and had wasted about 6 weeks of my time. During my first phone interview with HR, I was given a $5k range of what the Research Analyst position goes for. The high end of the range had been slightly lower than what I was hoping for, but because she assured me that there was plenty of upward mobility within Hanover (i.e., raises and salary adjustments), I continued with the interview process. However, the base salary listed on the offer letter I was given ended up being significantly less than what I was told. To be exact, it was $15k less than the low end of the range I was given. When I pointed this out to the HR rep, she came back with an additional $10k, which is still lower than the minimum she had told me during our first call. I found this deceit to be completely unacceptable and would advice future job seekers to stay away. If this is the type of shady practices Hanover employs to get people in, I can only imagine how they treat their employees.

Thank you for your updated review. I am sorry that you felt misled during the interview process. There was clearly a misalignment between your salary expectations and the budget for this role which the recruiter should have addressed more clearly with you in the initial conversation. The recruiter was excited that you would be a great fit for the team she was hiring for and hoping that we would be able to find some additional budget by the time an offer was presented.

      Interview

Fairly straightforward if you have a friend who refers you. It depends on the hiring manager how hard they're going to be on you. Then you do a project which takes more time than it should.
