      Application

I applied online. I interviewed at Handshake (San Francisco, CA) in Aug 2017

      Interview

I ended up going through 4 interviews for this position and actually thought after the first 2 that I was at least going to get an offer. Each interview lasted around 30 minutes. I had never had a company do 4 interviews for a job before but thought they were just being thorough. Each interview required that I submit a weeks worth of availability. I found it frustrating to have to put so much availability in and then make sure I was available in case an interview was scheduled. One interview started 15 minutes late. Another they forgot to confirm with me and ended up getting rescheduled. On top of the interviews there was a 2 hour "take home" test given which required exploring the product and then answering questions. I was told the job paid between 50 and 55k yearly which I thought seemed low given a 50 hour minimum work week is required with more hours needed during peak times. I only found out another candidate had been chosen after emailing the HR person. Otherwise, I'm not sure I would have known. All in all, given time spent, I thought it was a cumbersome and in the end wasteful process. When looking for a job, given time is money, its hard to commit so much time with no payoff.

      Interview questions [1]

      Question 1

All of the interviewers asked almost exactly the same questions. Most of them were standard questions asking about experience, why I wanted to work for Handshake, etc.

      Application

I applied online. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at Handshake in Nov 2021

      Interview

      1. Initial screener interview with hiring manager 2. An online task that was relatively straightforward using handshake platform 3. A team interview fielding questions from 5 other team members 4. Another hiring manager interview 5. Rejection 6. Offered to interview for another position as "I'd be a great addition to the team" and proceeded to have another video call interview with a hiring manager 7. Was told it all went great and I would receive more details soon 8. Ghosted - zero response to any follow up, which is honestly extremely rude given the hours already put into interviewing.

      Interview

I was sent an email telling me when the interview would occur and what to expect. During the interview, we went through questions and then an exercise portion of the interview.

      Application

I applied online. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at Handshake

      Interview

The interview was one of the best interview processes I've gone through. I applied online, and within a day or two, I received an up-date and was sent an e-mail to complete an assignment. After I sent the assignment, I received an up-date within a day or two for a phone interview. After the phone interview, I was given an instant up-date, which was refreshing and exciting. I was then given the opportunity to interview with three supporting managers through video. It was also by far one of the most positive, engaging and genuine conversations I've had during an interview. Kudos to Jordan, Alex, Joe and Larry! Thank you for providing such a great interview experience. It's because of people and companies that stand for what you do that makes people strive for more.
