Had an initial phone screening with an HR representative in April. About a week later had a phone screening with two people the hiring manager and one instructional designer working on her team. Had a call back to have a face-to-face interview the second week of June. Interview was laid-back and relatively easy. They did not ask any formal interview questions more conversational which was nice. Both people that interviewed me were very nice. After my face to face several weeks had gone by and I followed up with HR on the status. Each time I followed up I was told that they didn't have any information to share but I was still under consideration. After following up at least 4 times over a 4 month period, I was finally told that although the hiring manager liked me they were going to go in a different direction and extend their candidate search. Therefore, I would not be selected. My only issue is that I'm pretty sure that they knew they were changing directions (whatever that means) a months ago and never informed me of such. As someone being unemployed it's very difficult to wait for months at a time just to hear a no. For some reason this seems to be very common with the oil and gas industry with taking months at a time to get back to candidates which is highly inconvenient. Overall the experience was not bad, however this company needs to do better with informing their candidates of status updates and formally letting them know whether or not they have been selected in a timely manner.
