March 21, 2025, I just did very unhappy interview with a major consulting company HCLtech. What happen is:
In interview, whether I turn on video is depend on if interviewer turn it on. When my recruiter joined and turn it on, I turn on right away. When you go off, no other have video on, I turn if off. Then I got asked to turn if on. I said if any of you turn on, then one of them turn on even though not really willing, I turn it on of course. Later he left the meeting. No other have video on again. I had to turn if off again. Then they asked me to turn it on, I repeat my standing again. He said, this is interview, he requests me to turn it on. I had to said, interview are seeing each other. I will need any of you turn it on. They stop this interview right away, I left right away. This is really disrespectful to candidate. Even interviewer get the power of offering or not, it doesn't mean he can do disrespect to candidate, escape the basic polity. Candidate has the power of join the company of not as well. The touch job market, doesn't mean candidate has to give up self-esteem.
Companies shouldn't be spoiled with such arrogant.
