Was with the Nurse Manager and 2-3 nurses. Interview was about 30 minutes to an hour long. Was more focused on how you work as a team. They really like my customer experience!
I applied through other source. I interviewed at HCA Healthcare in May 2023
Interview
I had previously did a shadow shift within the unit that I ended up working in and I had a sibling who worked in the unit.
The interview process was relatively informal for me and more of a discussion of establishing expectations for the job, work availability, interest in working as a nurse within the unit, and general “what led you into nursing” and “why are you interested in this unit” questions.
Prior to becoming a nursing student, I worked in HR recruiting and the general purpose of Nurse Extern jobs are to segway nursing students into becoming “new grad nurses” within their unit/at their facility.
Overall, the interview process is easy and they typically are more interested/eager in hiring you than you probably are for working for them (which may be heard to believe!)
Overall, from a HR/recruiter standpoint, the Nurse Extern positions are a strategy that the hospital uses to “train/prepare” future nurses for their unit and hopefully make a good impression to make nursing students want to continue working within their unit a nurse.

Question 1

I applied online. The process took 1 week. I interviewed at HCA Healthcare (Reston, VA) in Nov 2024
