I applied online. I interviewed at Granicus (Seattle, WA)
Interview
I first began talking with the recruiter, but we did broach topics of more technical skills. Later, completed two surveys/tests (one for personality, the other for general competency) and met with the Product Design Lead. The interview was more technical and personal, but I didn't make it past this interview, as they chose to go with another candidate.
Like the other reviews on here, I also talked to a recruiter who was actually really great then took the assessment and personality test which I also felt was strange since I hadn’t done anything like that since high school but went ahead and completed it. It’s nice that they send a bunch of online resources so you can practice and know what you’re getting into. I sent the recruiter an email right after I completed it thinking they’d get back to me soon after that to schedule time with the hiring manager since I was clear that I was pretty far along in the hiring process with another company but still wanted to keep speaking to Granicus if it felt like a good fit. The recruiter said that they have a quick process and can move “as fast as I’m able to”. However, after the assessment, I didn’t hear back until mid-week the following week and then scheduled a time with the hiring manager as soon as they had which was a few days later.
The talk with the hiring manager went well. She seemed personable and asked interesting and insightful questions about my background. I think I caught her off guard when I mentioned I had a somewhat negative experience with one of their websites but she was able to recover pretty quickly. I also mentioned to her that I was far along with another company and asked when I might hear back. She said that they aim to make a decision soon and I should be hearing back by the end of the week and, again, I heard nothing.
Luckily, the other company did make me an offer and their communication around their hiring process plus taking the time to hear me out about ways I can contribute to the team was in stark contrast to Granicus. I can’t the process was all bad at Granicus but my experience left a lot of be desired.
