Only got through the initial HR phone screen step before receiving the boilerplate "we are moving on with other candidates" email days later, even though I am extremely well qualified to fill the role as I met and in most cases exceeded the 13 point Candidate Qualifications listed. The interview focused on Google Analytics skills and not much else. While GA is certainly an important marketing tech tool for demand generation and really digital marketing in general, it is far from being the most important skill a candidate can possess when being evaluated for a director-level marketing post. So perhaps the company's focus was a bit skewed for an initial screening discussion. The position description of some 42 bullet points was well organized, but a typical "ask for everything including the kitchen sink" type format which again would be great if the interview actually delved into things other than Google Analytics. Perhaps the position should be retitled - Marketing Analytics Director.
