Applied with Globe Life’s Liberty National Division with their Blanco Agencies branch in Tampa. I applied to the job on indeed, where it was advertised as a customer service position. I quickly received an email with a canned, poorly worded response, thanking me for applying. The email was riddled with errors. Red flag #1. They invited me to a “corporate overview” in one email for “Thursday at 10 am.” I then received a second email telling me to confirm an “in-person interview” for...oh wow! 10 am on Thursday!
There’s a pandemic going on and I figured this was probably the result of changed procedures due to it, but I emailed to ensure that I should ignore the in-person interview and log into the virtual “overview.” I received a response saying “All you have to do is follow the instructions.”
Oh okay.
Which set of instructions? Red flag #2. I didn’t respond to it but did confirm the invite for the virtual overview. I then received a confirmation email from somebody’s personal gmail account. Red flag 3.
When I got into the webinar, the presenter literally started it by telling us to “have an open mind.” There’s number 4! The only reason someone would say that is if they know most people won’t like what they are about to say. When she got to the “training overview” slide, the truth came out. It’s a field sales position. No base pay. Not customer service. Just another scam.
I showed my GF screenshots of their slide, and she laughed, saying “oh it’s liberty national. They tried to scam me a long time ago. The first thing they had me do was try to sign up 5 relatives, 5 friends and 5 neighbors.”
How can these overwhelmingly positive reviews be real???? Something is not adding up.
At this time when the world economy is crippled by a pandemic and US unemployment approaching 20%, some people are desperate. Taking advantage of job seekers at this time is the lowest of the low. Shame on them.
