I initially submitted a CV and cover letter. I was contacted for a phone interview during which I was asked basic competency questions and about my CV. I then had a skype interview.

Unprofessional towards rejecting candidates. Had a pleasant conversation with the recruiting manager. She seemed excited and certain that I would progress further in the recruiting process and remarked that my experience was very relevant as the company I had worked for did very similar work and I was applying for a very similar position. She said she would have a response for me by the end of the week. After her nonreponse, I followed up with her, only to have her tell me they needed one more week. I followed up two weeks later, and after a few days she sent me a generic email to reject me, by saying that they had found another candidate with more relevant experience. In sum: the recruitment manager left me hanging for nearly 3 weeks after the interview just to send me a generic email to reject me. My partner who was a recruiter confirmed that recruiters should keep candidates up to date with their application status as employers should grant the same respect to candidates’ time as employees should respect their employers’ time. By making me wait for a generic response, I feel like this recruiter did not respect me nor my time. It made me feel very disappointed with the way the recruiter deals with candidates.
