The interview was supposed to include the Director of Accounting, the Director of FP&A, the FP&A Manager, and HR. However, the Director of Accounting did not attend the interview, which gave me a sign that I might be rejected.
The interview focused on technical questions related to cost accounting, expense allocation, data analysis, and presenting insights — but not on financial planning, even though the interviewers were from FP&A. It made me realize that no matter how strong your technical skills and knowledge are, the hiring decision isn’t always based on performance.
