I applied to the position and was contacted by an HR representative three weeks later to set up an interview over Skype. We were emailing back and forth to set up the appointment. In the middle of this exchange the HR rep sends an email saying that the interviews have been cancelled and that she would be contacting candidates later.
A few days later I got a form email from the HR rep instructing all candidates who had been invited to an in-person interview to submit availability. I hadn't even completed a Skype interview but played along and scheduled a time.
The interview was scheduled and I was emailed instructions etc. I showed up to the interview and it started without any problems.
The interview consisted of panelists reading questions off a sheet and grading my responses. One panelist jokingly made a comment about how she thought my answer to her question was too long. The interview wrapped up with the HR rep asking an "easy" question, but it was so complicated that I had to ask her to repeat it. Seriously, the question was so long that the HR rep fumbled through it. I still honestly feel like I performed very well during the interview, but in retrospect I don't think I had a chance.
The second the interview was finished all the panelists bolted out of the conference room. I don't think I've ever seen a room empty out so fast. It was disrespectful to say the least.
I sent a thank you note and got no response of course. A month later I got an automated rejection letter which was kind of rude because I invested a lot of time into the process. Just to make it worse, their application system sent me the rejection letter over and over again for the next few days.
