I applied online. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Genesis Oil and Gas (Aberdeen, Scotland) in Feb 2020
Interview
I had a positive experience during the interview process but a negative experience after the interview which is disappointing as Genesis seemed like a great place to work and all employees I met during my interview were all very friendly and helpful.
I was invited to attend a graduate assessment day and there were around 6 candidates altogether. After introductions and an ice breaker, all the candidates worked together for a team exercise. We were given a list of objects and asked to narrow down what objects we would take on a desert island. Then we were given a technical exercise to work on individually.
After a quick break, each candidate was invited to interview in another room with the hiring manager and HR. The interviewers asked general interview questions and also asked you to explain your answers to the technical exercise.
After the interview, we were told that we would hear back from Genesis within the next two weeks. However, even after sending a couple of emails after the interview (the last one was sent a month after the interview), I never heard anything back.
I'm assuming that Genesis decided not to hire any Graduates due to the Covid-19 situation but it still would have been nice to receive some feedback or an email explaining the situation. Candidates give up their own time and put in effort to attend these day-long assessment days so you would expect the potential employer to at least tell candidates the outcome.
