      Research Scientist Interview

      1 Jul 2021
      Anonymous interview candidate
      No offer
      Positive experience

      Application

I interviewed at General Motors (GM)

      Interview

Contacted by hiring manager. First stage was an off-putting HireVue recorded interview with three questions, followed by two hour-long interviews with managers from multiple sites. Questions were interesting but they seemed to have misunderstood my experience when inviting me for interview, and hadn't communicated between sites in advance of the interview.

      Difficult interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at General Motors (GM) (Detroit, MI) in Mar 2016

      Interview

All asked about C++ virtual, polymorphism. It looks like their programming skills are low based on their questions. They don't even ask about design pattern. It's probably because they're mainly electrical engineers.

      Application

I applied through an employee referral. The process took 1 day. I interviewed at General Motors (GM)

      Interview

Excellent work culture. Hiring is done through a day long interview with multiple leaders and a technical presentation to the relevant team. Interview is well thought out, carried out with certain amount of respect and dignity. The interview s relate to your ability and preparedness to carry to certain tasks and certainly not to check your bookish knowledge. Quite friendly atmosphere. Lots of background pre-interview collection of data is done.

What is your plan for next couple of years?
