      Senior Java Software Engineer Interview

      29 Mar 2013
      Anonymous interview candidate
      Boston, MA
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied in-person. The process took 2 days. I interviewed at Gemvara (Boston, MA) in Jul 2011

      Interview

At the time I had nearly 25 years of experience, the last 12 being in Java. I'm a little older, a lot wiser, and a lot of experience. I had a phone screen, a tech phone screen, and then a face-to-face. I met with an HR person and filled out paperwork. Then I met with the HR manager, and that went well. Then I met with the Architech who had to be at least 15 years my junior, that meant 15 years less experience than me, yet he would be the guy giving technical direction ... yeah, good luck with that. We talked about technology, and they use some strange techologies like EJB3 which no one uses, and I just thought that was an odd choice, and I told him that. Needless to say, we didn't agree on the technical direction they were going, so I wasn't a good fit. I didn't mind not getting the job.

      Interview questions [1]

      Question 1

No real problematic technical questions asked ... just the very general Java questions ...
