Interview
I first got a call from the director of sales & marketing, who asked me a few superficial questions about my experience and skills relating to the position--about 10 to 15 minutes. After a week or two, I was invited to come to an in-person interview. I met with the director, as well as the current editor/customer service representative, and spoke more in depth about my experience. The director gave me a long-winded description of the company and the position. It sounded disorganized and not very well thought through. That interview went well, and I was invited back for a second interview with the supervisor and the head editor, who was quite friendly. I was then asked to edit a sample article to demonstrate my chops, after which I received an offer--over the phone. Without thinking, I accepted right away--forgetting that one should always receive an offer in writing before agreeing to anything.
