Gateway Counseling Center interview questions

Spent about a half hour in waiting area. Receptionist was friendly. Offered me water and coffee. Place was busy, but people were very friendly. Met with the Directors one at a time. Had to take a reading/writing/comprehension and math test. Fairly simple if you pay attention to the questions. They basically want to know you can put a sentence together using the current spelling and conjugation, and that you are smart enough to solve some 5th grade math. Be prepared to compute decimal points, percents, and some math reasoning. Also know your "There, Their and They're's." The interview questions were a little repetitive as I was seen by several directors, one after the other. They seemed to focus a lot on my education, the schools I went to and the relation between my education and my employment history. They asked me a lot of "what if" scenarios to see what I would do and to get a barometer reading on my judgement. The interview was pretty typical.

Entire process took about 4 hours. An unnecessarily long time. First, I was given a fairly simple writing test. I suspect it was just to make sure the applicant is at least functionally literate. Very easy. Next I had an interview with a supervisor. She seemed mostly concerned with preparing me for the reality of the job than actually interviewing me. After about an hour of sitting around and chatting with the receptionist, I interviewed with the director. She asked a few more specific questions about my experience and how I would deal with specific scenarios. After an hour and a half I saw the QA director. She pretty much told me to be mindful of time management, communication, etc. Not much of an interview. After another half hour I saw the COO. Went over my resume and my writing sample. I was informed that I got the job about 5 minutes after I left.
