      Interview

Nice, straightfoward, generic questions. Why you want the job, our key values, what do you intend to bring to the company, how would you uphold our values - my only gripe was how robotic it felt and not personal.

      Customer Service Representative Interview

      26 Jun 2018
      Anonymous interview candidate
      Phila, PA
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Difficult interview

      Application

I applied online. I interviewed at GSK (Phila, PA) in Apr 2018

      Interview

Very long. Applied in October was called to Interview in April(6mos) ,its now June never heard back until this week(8mos total wait). In the meantime interviewed for another position, ironically with the same person from the first interview in June and I was still waiting for an answer. During BOTH interviews the hiring managers had no answers as to when the position was to actually start, the hours, training times. Everything per them was in the hands of Human Resources. They could not even answer if this was a position for immediate need or future need which if you are the hiring manager I as a candidate would expect you to have those answers. It was evident that neither hiring manager had read or even skimmed my resume because the questions asked were detailed on the resume so the interview which was 60min was mostly a verbal repeat of what was written on my resume. No real insight and detail into the job. Two hiring managers for two different departments neither could specify which department this position was being filled for and neither gave clear details of their respective departments for which they headed. Truly a sad experience. With the reputation of GSK I expected better from its representatives Fortunately my availability changed as well as my needs so they were no longer a consideration or desire to be employed by. The lack of communication and information was truly disheartening and made me a bit apprehensive of wanting to work for them. I have seen the reviews on lack of progression and I can see that as I believe the levels of education that I have obtained and am currently pursuing may have intimidated them in some way. I believe they want a high school graduate or someone with unfinished time at a community college even though their requirements state BACHELORS I truly believe they want someone who would be happy to be there and not interested in progression. GSK does not seem like a company who respects nor rewards a persons personal investment into themselves. For future candidates I would suggest that if you are looking for a job perhaps 8 months to a year later then apply to GSK. This position was applied to in October 2017,Interviewed for April 2018(6mos) and as of June 2018 I am just getting a response. Although I withdrew interest for the second position I interviewed for in June, I am sure I will get a "timely" response by Feb 2019. The reviews on this company per Glassdoor do not tell the entire truth.Perhaps GSK is good for some depending on your position and whether or not you have knowledgeable managers but I was totally disappointed. I felt the reviews on Glassdoor were misleading and in hindsight I am thinking that GSK may have manufactured the glowing reviews to hide the truth of ineffectiveness,in their processes.

      Interview questions [1]

      Question 1

What were your duties at ________ when you were there?- Keep in mind a detailed description of my duties was outlined on my resume. They also asked a lot of questions unrelated to my experience which is call center based. -This let me know they had NOT read my resume and were going by a general interview template. They also asked some "behavioral" questions about 3. What would you do if...How did you handle a time when you made a mistake and how did you make up for it? Etc.
