I applied through a recruiter. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at GRAIL (London, England) in Apr 2022
Interview
Applied through recruiter. Interview process was as follows:
+ Intro call with talent acquisition.
+ Intro call with technical director (UK).
+ Take-home assignment (build an API).
Then a series of Zoom panel interviews either over a day or 2 days:
+ 45min Coding test (using codeinterview.io, model a Lightbulb and Lightswitch).
+ 45min Call with tech director (UK) discussing assignment, CV, Amazon behaviour questions.
+ 45min Call with tech director (USA) discussing CV, Amazon behaviour questions.
+ 15min Call with talent acquisition.
It was a longer than average process but all interviewers were friendly and knowledgeable.
Advice I'd give- be comfortable writing raw code without the aid of an IDE. Have concrete examples ready for the Amazon behaviour questions- the STAR model responses are expected. Keep the conversation going, ensure you are contributing enough to the discussions.

I applied online. The process took 1 week. I interviewed at GRAIL (Menlo Park, CA)
Interview
My initial interview was very professional by a senior member of the company and was actually inspiring. I felt like this was a great company with a great mission. The second interview was scheduled for a technical test but the interviewer decided to change that and just ask me some general questions. It felt like I was being rejected before we even began. I am humble enough to recognize that I just didn't meet the bar even answering some simple questions - I'd be interested if anyone else had a similar experience.

I applied online. I interviewed at GRAIL in Jun 2023
Interview
Initial phone screen with recruiter. TPS with hiring manager. Call with recruiter to schedule panel. The recruiter dropped the salary range from 170 to 130, by first dropping it to 160, then 150, then 140, then 130. Three days later the recruiter called saying it is now 120. The recruiter had mentioned during the scheduling call that they were having trouble with people wasting the panels time and then not agreeing on the salary. Can see why. Official listing for the job seems incorrect then since salary is listed as "The estimated, full-time, annual base pay scale for this position is $124,000 - $186,000. "
