Emerging Leader Program: Operations Track Interview

      27 Feb 2018
      Anonymous interview candidate
      Baltimore, MD
      No offer
      Positive experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied through university. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at GEICO (Baltimore, MD)

      Interview

I heard about the position from a campus recruiter. I received an email immediately after applying. I was told to fill out a prescreening document. The next step asked me to take two assessments test. One was personality based and asked a lot of questions about my leadership style and what I would do in specific events. The second one was more on an IQ test and asked some math questions and asked to figure out patterns. After that, I was scheduled for a video interview. It was awkward since it was my first time. But the recruiter was really nice. She asked me a lot of "tell me about a time when.." questions and "what would you do if..". Then, I interviewed in their headquarters in Baltimore with the manager of the emerging leader's program and with the vice president of Geico (Seth Ingall). The interview with the manager was a lot more difficult than I expected. Overall, I had a good experience with the hiring team. They were helpful and supportive throughout the whole process. A few days after the interview, I received an automated email from Geico saying that they were going to "pursue other candidates whose background and skills more closely align with the Emerging Leaders Program". After investing so much time with the company, it would have been more professional for them to send me a personalized email or a phone call. The process seems too extensive for the position.

      Interview

First, there is a phone interview. Just just ask several questions mainly about my resume. Followed by is a face-to-face interview, and only takes me thirty minutes. There is only one HR manager and ask several tricky questions like:" How do you think you like GEICO?" Finally the HR ask me to ask him some question, but reject to answer any questions about his job.
