      Customer Service Representative Interview

      Anonymous interview candidate
      No offer
      Positive experience
      Difficult interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 1 day. I interviewed at GEICO in Jan 2012

      Interview

I applied online and had an email the next morning to schedule a phone interview. The phone interview consisted of a woman talking to me about the three available positions and which I would like more and all their details. Then she asked me a little about my past employers and why I was no longer with each one. At the end we scheduled a day for me to come in and go through their testing process. I had gone through this process two years earlier and failed the initial computer test due to time limit. The testing at Fredericksburg Geico was done on a computer. It began with a series of personality questions. Then an insurance office simulation test which was like a multi tasking game alternating between listening to calls/ reading emails, recording as much information as possible and a speed typing test. The directions explain that this simulation is intended to go fast and no one is expected to finish everything. I was nervous at first but once it started I enjoyed the challenge and had fun. After the computer testing finished I watched a video about Geico employment and opportunities. Then sat in the waiting room for almost an hour since most people were on lunch breaks (don't schedule testing around lunch time). I was called in to do a 1:1 interview. Basic questions about past employers and my interest in Geico, where else I had applied. Then I was taken to a small room with a phone and packet of information. I had twenty minutes to study and the phone simulation began. My interviewer called three different times pretending to be customers of the company described in the packet with concerns or complaints and my role was to talk them through any problems and explain any additional offers they might be interested in. This was the test I had been most nervous about but I was surprised at how smoothly it went. To prepare I had highlighted what I thought were important phrases and sales strategy in the packet. After the first two calls were easy customers I knew the third would be the difficult customer described in the packet and had a minute to prepare before it began. At the end of each call the interviewer would call (as herself) and ask how I felt I did or what I'd do different. After the third call and review call she came back to walk me out and said I'd hear back by the end of the week. All in all the whole process was not as bad as I had originally thought. It was challenging but not terrifying like I'd heard from others who went through it or work there. I also had a connection with one of the managers whose relative had encouraged me to apply and offered many times to put in a good word as soon as I made it through testing. Unfortunately this did not get me a position at Geico. I received the rejection email Friday afternoon after four pm. I'm not sure if I'll reapply after the six month waiting period but I will say that Geico sounds like a great career opportunity and I know a lot of people happily employed there and only one who didn't like their job. Hope this helps someone else.

      Application

I applied online. I interviewed at GEICO (Tampa, FL)

      Interview

It was a weird process, first it was on zoom and my interviewer told me to turn off my camera because of the bandwidth issues. Then she asked three questions and provided me the job description and the hours. She then asked me if I was looking for other work and If I was currently working. I did tell her that I am currently working and she told me that I have enough time to provide my current job a two weeks notice. After the interview she told me that she was going to endorse my application for review. Then she sent me another email saying that “Your recruiter will be in touch with you for next steps”. Then in the middle of night not even 24 hrs, I get a generic email saying that I was passed on. I wanted to find out why did I get an email saying that a recruiter was going to contact me, then I passed on from someone else. This was a customer service position and during the interview she told me that I have a lot of experience. I just didn’t like during that interview I was given false hope. I would not recommend applying to this company.
